Sandy Reflections at Mushroom House
Just above where this photo was taken lies Mushroom House - an extension of the house atop the cliffs of Torrey Pines near La Jolla. The house, built by a potato chip baron, once had its very own tramway and is quite the feet of engineering but is now said to be abandoned. It stood out to me as a child of Australia, as it is rare to see such eccentric architecture in what would be considered a public space. The USA is the land of opportunity but for me it was always accompanied with a degree of decay and sadness.
